Lug Width Guide

How to Determine Your Watch’s Lug Width

Before selecting a new strap, it’s important to know the lug width of your watch this is the space between the two lugs where the strap connects, often referred to as point "A" in sizing diagrams.

Two easy ways to find out:

  1. Search online:
Type your watch brand and model followed by “lug width” into Google (e.g. Omega Speedmaster lug width). Many brands or enthusiast sites list this specification.
  2. Measure it yourself:
Use a ruler or caliper to measure the inner distance between the lugs of your watch. This gives you the lug width in millimeters.

Common lug widths

Lug widths are typically whole numbers. While 18mm to 22mm is most common, some watches go as narrow as 8mm or as wide as 32mm.

At Hong Kong’s Finest Watches, we currently offer straps in 20mm, 21mm and 22mm sizes.

Choosing the right strap

Once you know your lug width, simply select a strap that matches that exact size.
For example: if your watch has a lug width of 20mm, choose a strap labeled 20mm to ensure a proper fit.
